Job Description

Better Bennington Corporation is seeking a friendly, dependable, and organized Administrative Assistant to join our small team. This part-time, in-person position works closely with the Executive Director to support daily office and Visitors Center operations, assist with downtown events, and create a welcoming experience for visitors and community members. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with people, staying organized, and being involved in the community. Familiarity with downtown Bennington is helpful, but we are happy to support someone who is enthusiastic about learning more about the area, its businesses, and its events. Responsibilities Answer and return phone calls and emails in a friendly and timely manner. Welcome visitors and help answer questions about downtown Bennington. Provide administrative support to the Executive Director, including filing, data entry, scheduling, and maintaining organized records. Update donor, volunteer, vendor, business, and community contact lists. Communicate with volunteers, vendors, and event participants using information and direction provided by the Executive Director. Assist with preparations for MayFest, Harvest Fest, and other downtown events. Help with event setup and breakdown, including tables, tents, signs, decorations, and supplies. Provide general support to Better Bennington's office, Visitors Center, and community activities as needed. Qualifications We are looking for someone who: Is reliable, organized, and able to follow through on assigned responsibilities. Has a friendly, positive, and professional approach to working with the public. Communicates clearly and respectfully by phone, email, and in person. Has general computer skills and is willing to learn new programs and systems. Is interested in learning about downtown Bennington and supporting the local community. Is able to assist with the physical aspects of event setup and breakdown. Experience with customer service, office administration, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, events, or nonprofit organizations is helpful but not required. Training will be provided as needed.

$19.00 per hour
Schedule:
25-30 hours per week, primarily between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Location:
In person in downtown
Bennington, Vermont Seasonal Saturdays:
Shared Saturday Visitors Center coverage during peak visitor season. The weekly schedule will be adjusted when Saturday coverage is required.
Events:
Occasional evening or weekend availability is required for major downtown events. All hours worked are paid and scheduled in advance.
Pay:
Up to $19.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 30.0 per week
