The Department of Corrections is seeking two energetic and qualified individuals for the position of Administrative Assistant 2 at Airway Heights Corrections Center. Airway Heights Corrections Center is a 2000 + bed male facility located approximately 10 miles west of Spokane. The prison consists of a facility that houses medium and minimum custody incarcerated individuals (I/I). Whether the work is inside a prison, in community corrections, or in an administrative office, the Washington State Department of Corrections professional staff experience a high degree of personal satisfaction knowing they are creating environments in which all I/I's can learn to make choices that contribute to a safer society. The Administrative Assistant 2 works under the direction of the CS2 in the Legal Liaison's Office performing delegated duties associated with virtual court process, which include arraignments, hearings, trials, and other court actions as supported through DOC policy.

As an Administrative Assistant 2 under the Legal Liaison Office (LLO), some of your duties will include: Supporting professional and responsive interactions with Criminal Justice Partners for requested court proceedings as directed by the facility legal liaison.

Process Civil Rights Complaints, Habeas Corpus, Personal Restraint Petition (PRP) and Tort Lawsuits, Discovery/Request for Production, and Declarations received from the Attorney General's Office (AGs). Coordinate Legal Service on incarcerated individualsSet up teleconferences, telephonic hearings, virtual hearings, professional visits received by DOC Headquarters and Depositions received from the Attorney General's Office (AGs), officers of the court, attorneys, Child Protective Services (CPS), Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF), Department of Child Support (DCS), and Governor Ombuds with incarcerated individuals and/or DOC staff. Provide backup to facilitate virtual hearings.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a priority health issue for DOC employees. The successful candidate may be required to provide valid proof of a baseline TB skin test within 60 days from the date of hire. Telework DetailsThis position may be allocated for telework. Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a "drop in" area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
