Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to organize and operate the church office in a way that supports the mission and vision of the church. This role provides a welcoming, confidential, and positive environment for members, visitors, volunteers, and staff, while supporting the Pastor, church leadership, and congregation through strong administrative, communication, and operational support.
Reporting Relationships:
  • Reports to the Pastor & Council with Pastor serving as the primary supervisor.
  • Works under the oversight of the Personnel Team of the Council.
  • Performance reviews are conducted by the Pastor and Personnel Team.
Position Summary:
The Church Administrative Assistant is responsible for the coordination of church office operations, worship and communication support, records management, ministry scheduling, and administrative follow through. The role helps maintain continuity during busy seasons and staff transitions, supports recurring church rhythms and event coordination, tracks deadlines, and helps ensure important follow-up items do not get dropped.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Prior office or secretarial experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Computer skills required; familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Dependable, responsible, and self-motivated
  • Leads with curiosity rather than judgement
  • Builds trust with the community and maintains composure under pressure focusing on solutions rather than complaints.
  • Foster a supportive and collaborative team environment by maintaining a cooperative and respectful demeanor.
  • Able to manage recurring responsibilities, interruptions, deadlines, and follow-up work with warmth and professionalism
  • Fluency in English required. Conversational Spanish or beyond is beneficial.
  • Ability to perform light physical tasks related to preparing and maintaining the main office and other church spaces, occasionally lifts light office materials, regular sitting, standing, and walking as well as light setup / straightening duties
Position Details:
18-20 hours per week at $18
  • 20 per hour.
Includes 5 sick days per year; additional sick time is unpaid. Includes up to 6 vacation days per year earned monthly; vacation must be approved by the pastor and does not accrue.
