Job Description

Evanston Child Development Center is seeking a dependable, organized, and personable Administrative Assistant to support the day-to-day administrative operations of our center. This position is an important part of creating a welcoming environment for children, families, staff, and visitors while ensuring the office runs smoothly and efficiently. The Administrative Assistant will provide general administrative support, manage the reception desk, assist with communications, and perform a variety of human resources responsibilities. The ideal candidate is professional, friendly, detail-oriented, comfortable handling confidential information, and able to work effectively in a busy child-care environment. The anticipated schedule for this job is 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday-Friday. Key Responsibilities Reception & Administrative Support Serve as the first point of contact for families, visitors, staff, and community members. Greet visitors and provide a warm, professional welcome. Answer and direct incoming phone calls and respond to general inquiries. Maintain organized office files, records, forms, and documentation. Support center leadership with special projects and other administrative needs. Human Resources Responsibilities Assist with the onboarding and orientation process for new employees. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and personnel files. Assist with employment paperwork, background-check documentation, required forms, and staff credential records. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in business administration, human resources, or a related field is a plus. Previous administrative, receptionist, office, or HR experience preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment. Proficiency with computers, email, Google Workspace, and general office technology. Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude. Starting wage based on education and experience. Pre-employment drug screening and background checks are required for this position.
