Job Description

at Department of Transportation in Springfield, Illinois, United States Job Description Essential Functions Consults and advises the Transportation Infrastructure Security Supervisor on departmental methods, procedures, and interpretations to include the preparation of documents to complete emergency management/homeland security tasks. As secretary to the Transportation Infrastructure Security Supervisor, performs duties composing and keyboarding correspondence including confidential documents. Maintains archives of electronic documentation on the bureau’s shared storage drives, creating directories/subdirectories, to facilitate retrieval of historical documents for bureau staff. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of those enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of secretarial/business college, or completion of high school and two (2) years of related office experience, or two (2) years of independent business experience. Requires ability to keyboard accurately 30 wpm. Preferred Qualifications Prefers knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite platform. Prefers extensive knowledge of office practices, procedures, and programs. Prefers extensive knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Prefers ability to follow oral and written instructions. Prefers the ability to operate word processing, reproduction, and other office equipment. Prefers the ability to utilize office equipment, including computer software such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
