Part Time Description Position Overview:
Petry Excavating, Inc. is seeking a reliable and motivated part-time intern to assist with daily administrative and accounting-related tasks in our growing business. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently. The intern will gain hands-on exposure to business operations, basic accounting practices, and professional office procedures in a supportive and supervised environment.
Learning Opportunities:
Introduction to accounting and financial processes in the construction industry Understanding office operations specific to an excavation and contracting business Exposure to job costing, vendor management, and compliance documentation Development of professional workplace habits and organizational skills Experience working with accounting and office software systems Responsibilities Scan, organize, and electronically file company documents Assist with financial record keeping and basic data entry Review and audit financial records for accuracy and compliance under supervision Verify and reconcile monthly vendor statements Organize invoices, receipts, and supporting accounting documentation Assist with maintaining organized project and job-related records Perform general office administrative tasks such as filing, copying, and document preparation Provide support to office staff with special projects as needed Limited exposure to project management and job cost documentation Qualifications Currently enrolled in high school Interest in business, accounting, construction management, or office administration Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar) Ability to follow instructions and handle confidential information responsibly Dependable, punctual, and professional demeanor Reliable transportation to and from the office. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced work environment.
