Job Description

THE POSITION
The Clerk Typist 2 position with the Fayette County Housing Authority offers a chance to support important housing services while building strong clerical skills. This role provides steady, meaningful work that helps applicants and staff receive timely information and assistance. You will handle daily tasks that keep the office organized and running smoothly. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports daily clerical activities that help the Tenant Selection and Section 8 Housing Departments serve applicants and maintain organized records. The role involves customer service, data entry, recordkeeping, and general office support. As a Clerk Typist 2, you will perform the following duties:
Customer Service:
Answer calls, direct inquiries, and provide information to applicants
Mail Processing:
Sort incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail for the department
Interview Scheduling:
Set appointments for applicant interviews and prepare required folders
Application Entry:
Enter applications for Public, State, and Section 8 Housing programs
Record Checks:
Run credit and background reports and review housing defiant lists
Correspondence Tasks:
Prepare letters, logs, and other written materials for office needs
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Six months as a Clerk Typist 1 and educational development to the level of eighth grade; or Completion of a high school business curriculum which included at least one typing course; or Any combination of equivalent experience and training.

Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Fayette County. If no eligible candidates who live within Fayette County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
