Job Description
Description We are looking for a dependable Mailroom Assistant to support daily receiving, mail distribution, and document handling operations in North Little Rock, Arkansas. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who enjoys staying organized, working across multiple support functions, and helping keep workplace services running efficiently. The role will contribute to mail processing, supply coordination, package handling, and imaging tasks while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and service quality.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily mailroom activity by collecting, sorting, preparing, and distributing incoming and outgoing mail and packages on schedule.
- Support shipping and postage operations by maintaining meter readiness, preparing larger mailings, and following applicable mailing guidelines.
- Oversee receiving room workflow to help ensure materials and deliveries are processed accurately and routed to the appropriate departments.
- Maintain office supply stock levels by ordering needed items, issuing requested materials, and tracking usage for departmental budgeting purposes.
- Create, review, and reconcile purchase orders promptly while assisting with month-end purchasing and inventory tasks.
- Perform document imaging work by scanning and indexing files accurately and within required turnaround times.
- Monitor shredding equipment and collection bins in coordination with external service providers to support secure document disposal.
- Participate in job-related training and apply updated knowledge to improve service, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
- Handle sensitive information responsibly and uphold confidentiality standards in all mailroom and records-related activities. Requirements
- High school diploma preferred; additional vocational or two-year college education is a plus.
- At least 6 to 12 months of related experience in a mailroom, receiving, office support, or similar environment preferred.
- Working knowledge of mail handling, package distribution, and outgoing mail preparation.
- Ability to manage inventory, support purchasing activities, and maintain accurate records.
- Experience with scanning, document indexing, or records support is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to manage multiple routine tasks efficiently.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, and use hands regularly throughout the workday, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Commitment to confidentiality and willingness to learn through ongoing training.
