at Department of Corrections in Sheridan, Illinois, United States Job Description Position Overview The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a Corrections Clerk I to work at the Sheridan Correctional Center. This position collects and processes incoming mail and institutional mail and maintains an individual in custody mail log. In addition, this position screens and routes all incoming postal and delivery service packages and participates in processing employee and state-related outgoing mail. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply. Essential Functions Collects and processes incoming mail and institutional mail. Maintains an individual in custody mail log to include a separate, detailed legal mail section. Screens and routes all incoming postal and delivery service packages to ensure that security concerns are met. Participates in processing employee and state-related outgoing mail. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonable within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school. Requires six (6) months of clerical or office work. Conditions of Employment Requires ability to pass the
IDOC / IDJJ
background check. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited. Requires completion of an approved course in guard training within six months of employment.
