Job Description

POSITION IS ON-CALL ONLY
•Please include a cover letter, resume and references• Provides coverage as needed for the Communications Department support through mailroom and Commissioners' Office which includes: (1) mail sorting, processing, and courier services to support the operations of County government; and (2) other clerical duties as assigned. The following examples of duties and accountabilities illustrate the general range of tasks assigned to the position but are not intended to define the limits of required duties. Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the general scope of the position. Employee must comply with all County and department policies, procedures, WAC's, or other regulatory bodies.
Incoming Mail Processing:
The position's duties include: Picking up incoming County mail; sorting mail for each office or designated individual; arranging mail for orderly pickup by departments.
Outgoing Mail Processing:
Outgoing mail is sorted by department or zip code, metered, segregated and delivered to the Post Office for delivery. This individual operates mailroom equipment, determines correct amounts of postage, records and reports on postage expense. Packages to be carried by courier services are prepared, properly labeled, weighed and made available to package delivery couriers.
Mailroom Vehicle Responsibilities:
Position requires the re-fueling and, as necessary, cleaning of the mailroom car at the County's Public Works Department.
Computer:
Perform updates to Department documents, scanning, and other light computer operation.
General:
Perform general office assistance as requested during "slow times," which may include but not be limited to, posting of holiday Courthouse closings, assisting with County Employee Bulletin Board, filing, etc. Support to
Other Departments:
Perform general office assistance as requested to assist other departments to cover absence or to assist in special circumstances. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Required High School Diploma or GED Certificate; Minimum 18 years of age or older; Minimum Two years' successful Office Experience using basic computer skills; Customer Service/excellent people and communication skills; Valid Washington State Driver's License with proof of automobile insurance; Preferred County government experience Bi-lingual in English/Spanish Mail processing experience, including weighing of letters and packages, calculating correct postage or package delivery fee, and/or operation of postage metering equipment. Working Conditio ns Work is primarily performed inside but can be performed in varying temperatures. Employee may be exposed to office supply odors or vapors. Employee may also be exposed to sub-sanitary environments. Physical Requirements The physical abilities described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, write, hear, speak, and lift up to 50 lbs. of unequal weight.
