Job Description

Established accounting firm seeks a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented person for a permanent full-time position. This is a year-round position with substantially heavier work during approximately four months of the year and a lighter workload during the remainder. Applicants must be available to work throughout the year, including the increased hours during tax season. No bookkeeping or tax-return preparation is required, however future training in these fields may be possible. Duties
  • Greet clients and provide courteous, professional assistance
  • Answer the telephone and take accurate messages
  • Schedule and confirm appointments
  • Call clients with appointment reminders and requests for missing information
  • Enter client information accurately into tax-office software
  • Assemble completed tax returns and related documents
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail
  • Scan, copy, organize, and file documents
  • Maintain accurate and orderly client files
  • Perform general office and administrative duties
  • Handle confidential client information appropriately Qualifications
  • Previous receptionist, office-administration, customer-service, or data-entry experience preferred
  • Good computer skills and the ability to learn new software
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Professional telephone and in-person communication skills
  • Good organization and written communication
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to follow procedures and complete repetitive work carefully
  • Ability to remain calm and organized during busy periods
  • Discretion when handling confidential client information Accounting, bookkeeping, or tax-preparation experience is not required.
Experience in an accounting, legal, medical, or other confidential office is helpful. Physical requirements The position requires standing for extended periods, walking around the office, filing documents in lower file drawers, bending or stooping as needed, and lifting and carrying file folders and office materials. Applicants must be able to perform these essential job duties, with or without reasonable accommodation. Schedule This is a permanent full-time position.
  • Busy season: approximately 40-45 hours per week
  • Remainder of the year: approximately 40 hours per week; during the off season office hours are M-Th 7-5; F 8-noon.
  • Busy season: approximately 5 months Compensation Starting pay is $18.
00-$20.00 per hour , depending on relevant experience, computer skills, accuracy, and ability to work independently.
