Office Assistant, Full-Time Rural Health Clinic (La Junta) | Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center (AVRMC) Be the welcoming first impression that helps patients access quality healthcare close to home. At Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center (AVRMC), our clinic support staff play an essential role in creating a positive patient experience. We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Office Assistant to join our Rural Health Clinic in La Junta, Colorado. Located just east of the Rocky Mountains, AVRMC proudly serves Southeastern Colorado by providing high-quality healthcare close to home. Position Summary As an Office Assistant, you will provide indirect patient care and administrative support within the clinic setting. This role serves as a key point of contact for patients, providers, and staff by assisting with patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, payment collection, and daily clerical operations. This is a Full-Time position located at our La Junta Rural Health Clinic. Key Responsibilities Patient Registration & Customer Service Greet patients and visitors in a professional, welcoming manner Register patients using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system Provide new patients with required registration and medical forms Verify patient demographic, employment, and insurance information Explain registration processes and provide directions to new patients Maintain a positive, patient-centered experience at all times Scheduling & Communication Schedule new and return patient appointments Communicate appointment information and preparation instructions as needed Answer phones professionally and courteously Take messages and route calls to appropriate staff members Facilitate communication between patients, families, providers, and clinic staff Insurance, Billing & Payment Processing Verify insurance eligibility and coverage information Explain clinic billing policies and collect applicable co-payments Refer uninsured patients to the Clinic Manager as appropriate Collect payments, issue receipts, and maintain payment records Balance petty cash and secure daily deposits according to clinic procedures Manage the office cash drawer accurately and responsibly Administrative & Clerical Support Manage the flow of information through the EMR by routing tasks appropriately Scan patient documents and maintain accurate electronic records Prepare and maintain patient forms and registration materials Photocopy daily patient schedules and maintain daily patient logs Perform clerical duties to support efficient clinic operations Assist with additional duties and projects as assigned Teamwork & Professionalism Maintain positive working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients Participate in performance improvement activities Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and attention to detail Support AVRMC's mission, values, and commitment to extraordinary care Qualifications Required High School Diploma or equivalent One (1) year of experience in an office or healthcare setting Preferred Experience with medical billing and insurance processes Skills & Knowledge Strong customer service and communication skills Basic computer and data entry proficiency Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities Attention to detail and organizational skills Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred Why Join AVRMC At AVRMC, every employee contributes to our mission of providing extraordinary care.
