The Medical Receptionist coordinates and participates in a variety of duties associated with daily medical center preparation process, patient identification, patient check in/out, charge posting, cash management and patient appointment scheduling. The Medical Receptionist will perform administrative duties under the direction of the Center Manager. Provide and deliver extraordinary customer service to all patients and internal staff members.
DUTIES:
- Interact with extraordinary customer service with patients and record information while greeting, checking-in, checking-out or scheduling appointments for patients.
- Utilize computer programs to add new patients, check patients in and out, print out relevant forms for processing, and schedule appointments.
- Present and educate patients on required forms and obtain signature as required by policy and procedure.
- Collect and post co-payments and balances on accounts due. Determine the amount of cash to be collected based on insurance plan.
- Answer telephones, take detailed and accurate messages, and ensure messages are directed to the appropriate individual efficiently and effectively.
- Clearly communicate information to providers, patients, and other individuals.
- Verify patient insurance via phone or website and collect any necessary payment for services.
- Preform end of day close balancing cash drawer.
- Transmit correspondence by mail, e-mail, or fax.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in similar roles. EMR system experience; eClinicalWorks preferred. Required high school diploma. Knowledge of services, standards, policies, and procedures. Skill in operating phones, personal computers, software, and other IT systems. Skill in oral communication (Fluent in English required; Spanish is a plus). Ability to communicate with providers, employees, patients, and other individuals in a professional and courteous manner. Ability to pay close attention to detail and to ensure accuracy of reports and data.
