Job Description

The Village of Tinley Park is a vibrant community located in the fast-growing Interstate 80 corridor in southwest suburban Chicago. As the 14th-largest city in Metropolitan Chicago boasting a residential population of 56,000 residents and nearly 1,000 businesses, this exceptional community possesses everything from a fun and lively Downtown district to flourishing residential neighborhoods to thriving corporate, commercial and entertainment centers, all tied together under Tinley Park's Life Amplified brand. Due to an upcoming retirement, we currently seek a customer service focused individual to join the Village Clerk's Office in the role of Receptionist to serve as the primary point of contact for residents, visitors, and callers to Village Hall providing exceptional customer service and information regarding municipal services, departments, programs, and procedures. The Receptionist ensures a welcoming environment while assisting the public with inquiries g reeting residents, visitors, and vendors entering the main lobby of Village Hall in a professional and courteous manner. This position will also answer the main phone number for Village services and assists callers providing information related to Village services and community programs and directs specific inquiries to the appropriate online resources or to specific department staff member(s) for other direct assistance. Will also identify and recommended improvements to existing daily processes to increase efficiency and productivity. Additionally, this position will perform official notary duties, process voter registration applications, a ccept and process payments for certain municipal services, process incoming/outgoing Village Hall mail and deliveries, m aintain the reception area and ensure informational materials and forms are organized and stocked, update and manage contact lists and directories, assist with scheduling appointments and maintain public meeting calendars, provide general administrative office support, and maintain the main Village Hall office supply inventory room. A high school diploma along with a minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of general office receptionist and/or administrative experience with a strong focus on customer service is required. Prior experience in municipal government and/or community support role(s) is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of community municipal programs & initiatives is a plus. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to excellent customer service in municipal government with a strong focus on meeting the needs of residents and municipal operations. They will be a self-starter, extremely well organized, and have both exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. They will be able to multi-task effectively to handle high call volume and in-person visitors in a professional manner. They will be able to manage office administrative functions and ensure information gathering is centralized to the main reception area and available to respond to inquiries.
