THIS IS NOT A SEASONAL OR TEMPORARY POSITION. LOOKING FOR LONG TERM EMPLOYEE
The Barker Shop is a busy, well-established grooming and dog-care business looking for a reliable, confident , animal-loving Front Desk Receptionist to be the face of our shop during afternoon hours. This role is perfect for someone who loves dogs, has strong common sense, and can stay calm and organized in a fast-paced environment. Schedule Monday-Wednesday, Friday & Saturday hours will vary between 7:30am-6pm. Consistent weekly schedule Key Responsibilities Greet clients and their dogs warmly and professionally Check dogs in and out for grooming and services Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage basic client questions Communicate clearly with groomers and staff Handle payments and maintain front-desk organization Keep the lobby calm, clean, and welcoming Assist with basic dog handling when needed Cross Training for Bathing & Boarding Applicants will be cross trained to assist with overnight boarding and pet bathing as needed. Required Qualifications Must love animals and be comfortable around large, strong dogs Prior experience working with animals (pet care, grooming, vet office, daycare, shelter, etc.) Strong common sense and good judgment Friendly, confident, and professional demeanor Able to multitask and stay composed in a busy environment Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented Comfortable enforcing shop policies politely but firmly Ideal Candidate Traits Calm and confident with dogs of all sizes and temperaments Naturally organized and observant Excellent communication skills Takes initiative and doesn't need constant supervision Understands that safety (for dogs, clients, and staff) comes first Why Work at The Barker Shop?
