Job Description

Advanced Eye Centers is seeking a friendly, professional, and customer-focused Front Desk Receptionist to join our growing team in Taunton, Massachusetts. We are a 14-doctor multi-specialty ophthalmology and optometry practice with four locations throughout Southeastern Massachusetts. Our physicians provide comprehensive medical and surgical eye care, including routine eye exams, retina, glaucoma, cornea, oculoplastics, pediatrics, optical services, and contact lenses. Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish or Portuguese or English/Creole) are strongly encouraged to apply. Position Summary The Front Desk Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for our patients and plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service. This position is responsible for patient check-in, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, telephone support, and general administrative duties to ensure smooth daily operations.
Compensation:
Starting at $18/hour. Pay is commensurate with experience. ResponsibilitiesPatient Relations Greet patients professionally and courteously. Verify and update patient demographic information. Enter required patient information into the electronic medical record system. Obtain referrals and authorizations as required. Verify insurance eligibility prior to appointments. Collect patient payments and maintain accurate payment records. Assist with contact lens orders and distribution. Administrative Duties Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. Scan, file, and process medical records and physician correspondence. Receive and distribute faxes. Maintain surgery and physician dictation lists. Shred confidential documents appropriately. Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming office environment. Scheduling Schedule and reschedule patient appointments according to practice protocols. Assist patients in finding appointment times that meet their needs. Recognize urgent situations and notify appropriate clinical staff. Communicate appointment preparation instructions to patients. Contact overdue patients and assist with recall scheduling. Telephone Support Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally. Direct calls and messages to appropriate staff members. Triage urgent calls and notify clinical personnel as needed. Ensure physician-to-physician calls are transferred immediately when appropriate. Qualifications Excellent customer service and communication skills. Professional demeanor and positive attitude. Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail. Basic computer proficiency. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Education & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent required. Previous medical office or customer service experience preferred.
