Job Description
Academy of the Sacred Heart, established in 1851, is Michigan's oldest independent school, offering a Catholic, college-preparatory education to girls (infant-Grade 12) and boys (infant-Grade 8) of many cultures and faiths. A portry attendant is a person who has charge of a door or gate; a doorkeeper. This is a crucial role in the community, as this person serves visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately. Notifies the appropriate personnel of guest arrival. Maintains security and telecommunications system. Informs callers by answering or referring inquiries. A portry attendant also provides support to managers, other employees, and office visitors by handling a variety of tasks in order to ensure that all interactions between the organization and others are positive and productive. Scheduled time is 10-15 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
Uphold the Goals and Criteria of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools and embody and communicate the school's mission and core values. Gatekeeper of the community, able to follow the established guidelines for admittance into the school. Arrive and be ready at designated location on-time. Answer the phone, greet, and assist guests pleasantly and with courtesy. Keep an organized workspace. Assist with printing, folding, sorting, or mailing, event programs or other mailings generated at school. Handle office tasks, such as filing, generating reports, setting up for meetings, and reordering supplies. Other duties as assigned.Technology Requirements:
Proficiency in MS Project, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Windows Knowledge of multi-line phone systems, fax and copier Google Suite Website and email proficiencyEssential Skills:
Handle confidential information with the utmost discretion, respect, and sensitivity. Represent the face of the Academy of the Sacred Heart, employing extreme diplomacy and grace, as she or he will often be the first contact for visitors. Demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response. Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to be adaptable as well as perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent accuracy and high levels of attention to detail. Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with constituents, including the leadership team, teachers, students, parents, staff, board members, external partners, and donors. Expert-level written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability. Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently. Demonstrated ability to achieve high-performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Forward-looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions. Foster a partnership between faculty and staff to create a positive environment for students' academic and social-emotional learning. Be a life-long learner who enhances her/his skills, using state-of-the-art technologies to maintain high standards of performance to efficiently and effectively produce work products.Minimum Qualifications:
