How you'll contribute A Unit Clerk who excels in this role will: Performs administrative/clerical duties in support of an assigned area. Greets patients and visitors. Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls. Calls codes, pages, and overhead announcements as requested. Enters nursing requests subject to the approval of a licensed nurse. Asks for clarification when necessary. Assists with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. Assembles and maintains patient records and charts. Performs needed clerical tasks, including copying, filing, and ordering/stocking supplies. Assists RNs and physicians with other patient activities as needed. Assist with orientation and training of personnel and students. Participates and attends meetings as required and/ or assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. What we are looking for:
It is preferred that applicants have a high school diploma or equivalent. Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.
Additional requirements include:
6 months as unit clerk or similar role Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
