Full Job Description Patient Relations Float Position Description:
The Float Position is a full-time (40 hours/week and hours may vary) role that will be cross-trained across multiple front office duties, including check-in, check-out, and appointment scheduling. The employee is expected to be a strong team player who maintains patient confidentiality and demonstrates pleasant, professional conduct at all times while providing excellent customer service. This position reports directly to the Front Office Manager.
Qualifications:
Education—High school diploma or GED Epic Experience Preferred Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Check-In Position - The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Check-In Scheduled Patients & Urgent Care Walk-Ins Verify Demographics and Insurance Run Financial Benefits for upcoming appointments Calculate Patient Financial Responsibility Scan/Upload Medical and Financial Documents Collect Co-Pays/Co-Insurance Communicate with patients. Any other job duties that might be requested by the doctors or management to help the office run efficiently. Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Check-Out Position - The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Check-out Scheduled Patients & Urgent Care Walk-Ins Schedule appointments according to each physician's standardized template. Collect DME payments Faxing PT/OT referrals through Epic Scan/Upload Medical and Financial Documents Communicate with patients. Any other job duties that might be requested by the doctors or management to help the office run efficiently. Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Appointment Scheduling Position - The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Answer calls requesting patient appointments and schedule appointments according to each physician's standardized template. Advise callers regarding practice, payment/cancellation policies and pre-authorization requirements as appropriate. Enter patient demographics into the computer system. Scanning and indexing documents/reports into charts Responsible to meter all outgoing mail/sort and distribute throughout the office. Any other job duties that might be requested by the doctors or management to help the office run efficiently.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
Varied activities include sitting, standing, and walking for varied amounts of time. Occasional stress from workload. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment, including phone, copy machine, writing instruments, PC and fax.
Personal characteristics:
The employee must be able to handle multiple tasks quickly and accurately while showing the patient compassion for their individual situation.
