Know Your Team:
Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital with a new emergency department, a state-of-the-art maternity center, a women's imaging center, and an ICU. Responsibilities The Receptionist provides a superior level of secretarial duties and reception services to the doctor, patients, and staff. Enters, maintains, and reports all medical history using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Updates all patient files and makes sure documents are accurate, confidential, and compliant. Greets, checks in, and checks out patients, and advises other medical staff of the arrival of patients. Assists in maintaining inventory of necessary supplies and all instruments. Schedules appointments, follows up with no call - no shows, and the discharge of patients. Answers inbound calls to the practice, as well as greets vendors and sets vendor appointments. Maintains Physicians' calendars, prepares doctors' notes (return to work, school, or leave notices), and all other correspondence as directed. Scans, files, and faxes documents, as well as prepares and sorts mail. Acts as a liaison with patients, referrals, general practitioners, health care professionals, and patient's family member in a compassionate and kind manner.
Qualifications Job Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Higher education may be substituted for experience. 1+ years' experience in customer service. Basic to intermediate EMR knowledge. Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office knowledge. Ability to multitask, can work in a fast-paced clinical environment, can engage patients, peers, and supervisors in a dedicated, comforting, respectful, and effective way, and can adapt to change.
Preferred Job Requirements:
Associate's degree in a related field of study. Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
