Job Description

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical/Technical Responsibilities Maintain knowledge and proficiency of management information system (MEDENT), patient insurance products and financial classifications. Operational/Procedural Responsibilities Oversee waiting area, coordinate patient movement, reports problems or irregularities. Receive Patients & Greets customers in polite, prompt, helpful manner. Provides any necessary instructions/directions. Informs appropriate department/person of person's arrival. Perform outpatient registration duties. Complete outpatient registrations in an efficient and courteous manner by accurately capturing and entering information.
Perform scheduling activities:
Schedules follow-up appointments. Records any additions or cancellations to the provider appointment system. Enter add-ons, no-shows, and cancellations in scheduling system to accurately reflect patient appointment status. Prepare medical records for provider staff use. Reconciles charge capture sheet and patient visits schedule to assure that a charge capture sheet has been processed for each visit. Performs other duties as assigned Provides patients and visitors with directions and information on areas within the office, and at Community Memorial Hospital. Answers telephones. Takes accurate messages and provides messages to nurse or provider. Provides coverage to other clinics as the need arises. Attend meetings as required. Assembles patients' charts for next day visit. Updates profile on all patients Schedules physician referrals, outpatient appointments and admissions as requested. Participate in the Daily huddle where the days schedule will be reviewed and follow-up tasks will be assigned. No shows and same day cancellations from previous business day will be discussed and follow-ups will be assigned. Responsibilities for Relationships Communicate insurance information in an effective manner to patients and/or families, insurance verification, clinical staff and providers, as appropriate. Acts as a liaison between patients, families, clinic staff and providers with respect to problems and concerns related to patient visits. Refers patient concerns to the Vice President Administrative Services. Develop and maintain courteous working relationships with internal customers including clinical staff, providers, billing staff and other hospital personnel. Understand the role and responsibilities of individual members as part of the healthcare team, including their ability to promote the delivery of quality healthcare. Interacts effectively and sensitively with all members of the healthcare team. Presents a positive image of Community Memorial Hospital through professional appearance and behavior.
Financial Responsibilities Perform cashier duties:
receive and keep receipts all payments and cc-payments. Maintain cash drawers and balance daily. Perform job responsibilities with a high degree of accuracy to ensure high billing quality standards and prompt payment from insurance carriers. This directly affects the hospitals' cash receipts and profitability. Utilizes Community Memorial Hospital's property and supplies appropriately and prudently to maximize cost effectiveness of procedures, conserve resources and minimize waste. Responsibilities for Information Consistently ensure that information known about the patient is kept private and secure and according to HIPAA law. Ensures that patient information is accurate. Maintains open communication within the department and administration.
