Job Description

RECEPTIONIST
The Receptionist is responsible for operation of the switchboard and paging system. He/she answers all incoming calls, redirecting them as needed. The Receptionist greets visitors and gives direction to residents, visitors and supports clerical activities.
Responsibilities:
He/she will maintain a current list of residents by name & room number, list of telephone numbers for all personnel, list of department by extensions, names of key personnel and their extension numbers etc. He/she will coordinate outgoing and incoming mail. He/she will ensure that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights. He/she will perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications/Requirements :
High school degree or equivalent with college/business school coursework preferred. Experience with medical terminology preferred. Must be able to read, write, and understand the English language.
Desired Characteristics:
Strong organizational skills. Ability to handle a variety of assignments, some of moderate complexity, requiring considerable familiarity with the operating details to the facility. Present well groomed, professional image and be corteous and tactful at all times. Ability to operate a typewriter or computer. Show discretion in handling of confidential information. Have a pleasant and professional phone manner. Ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, personnel and the general public. Have well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
