Job Description

Abigail's Arms Cooke County Family Crisis Center is seeking two to three compassionate persons to work part-time in our 24-hour Emergency Shelter. The Residential Support is responsible for providing crisis intervention and advocacy to callers on the hotline and to the families in the shelter facility. These positions facilitate the provision of services and activities that promote a healthy, safe and positive living environment. These positions may offer additional hours. These positions will offer three 8-hour shifts per employee Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Duties may include but are not limited to the following: Attend all trainings, staff meetings, and all other meetings per managerial request Be available and visible for the clients through the entire shift Review and become familiar with agency policy and procedures Communicate clearly both verbally & legibly per shift; via phone, email, and face to face Complete hourly rounds per shift on the inner and outer perimeters of the facility Check and secure all doors windows, and exits throughout the agency Actively promote and encourage philosophy of non-violence and mutuality with staff and residents Conduct a full room and locker checks per shift All vacant rooms should be prepared, cleaned, stocked, floors swept and mopped, beds made, and bathrooms cleaned Follow up with all hotline calls in a safe and confidential matter within 15 minutes of receiving the call Enter case notes/data/services in agency data base timely and accurately Complete, review, and monitor the community responsibilities per-shift Clean and reset thoroughly the overnight staff room Organize, monitor, and distribute appropriate cleaning supplies, nonfood items, meds and other materials as needed Review and become familiar with shelter updates, resident move-ins and/or exits including room modifications Conduct and perform all other duties as assigned Our ideal candidate will possess the ability to work in a high intensity/fast paced environment, enter data and use basic computer programs, multi-task and prioritize, ability to collaborate with the shelter team, recognize trauma exposure and secondary trauma for self and implement self-care, and the ability to make quick decisions and problem solve. Bilingual in Spanish or experience in a victim services or similar agency is preferred but not required.

Candidate must have the ability to: Climb a safety ladder for access to pantry shelves and upper bunks Perform basic janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping and wiping down counters and appliances and restocking closets Lift and carry up to 50 pounds Enter data into our proprietary database (Basic plus computer skills)
