Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly organized and professional Switchboard Operator to serve as the first point of contact for our organization. This role requires excellent communication skills, multitasking abilities, and a welcoming demeanor to efficiently manage incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate departments. The ideal candidate will possess strong clerical and administrative experience, along with proficiency in multi-line phone systems and data entry. This paid position offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team environment while ensuring seamless communication flow within the organization. Responsibilities Operate multi-line phone systems to answer, screen, and direct incoming calls promptly and courteously. Greet visitors in a professional manner, providing assistance or directing them to the appropriate personnel or departments. Manage data entry tasks accurately, including logging calls, updating contact information, and maintaining communication records. Perform clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and handling correspondence to support administrative functions. Dispatch messages efficiently within the organization, ensuring timely delivery of critical information. Maintain a tidy front desk area and ensure all communication equipment is functioning properly. Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette and communication skills to foster positive interactions with callers and visitors. Skills Multilingual or bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse audiences effectively. Experience operating multi-line phone systems with proficiency in call routing and management. Strong communication skills with an emphasis on clarity, professionalism, and active listening. Exceptional data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail. Previous clerical or administrative experience in a front desk or reception role is preferred. Ability to handle dispatching responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in typing and familiarity with office software tools for documentation and record keeping. This position is integral to maintaining smooth internal operations through effective communication management. Pay:
$19.00 - $20.00 per hour
