The work of an Admission Representative involves sharing detailed information about Hope and why it should be a strong consideration among the many options available in higher education. Admissions Representatives guide prospects through the search, application, and admission process by helping them assess their skills, education, and career goals in order to discern whether Hope is a good option. An effective Admissions Representative is passionate about the experience Hope College provides and eager to communicate it to prospective students and their parents at fairs, high school visits, emails, over the phone, and a variety of other ways. The personality that most enjoys this work is one that is proactive, collaborative, self-motivated, and enjoys selling what Hope has to offer. An ability to interact with a wide range of people is also essential. In addition to working with students and parents, Admissions Representatives are responsible for significant admissions events and territory management. Admissions Representatives are expected to develop and maintain close working relationships with other key constituents, including secondary school counselors and community-based organizations.
Responsibilities:
Admissions Representatives will represent Hope College both on and off campus to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process.
Other key responsibilities include:
Manage an assigned territory - develop and implement strategic recruitment activities for assigned high schools, including out-of-region/state travel Effectively communicate Hope College's mission and how Hope College fits into a prospective student's educational goals Be an active participant and professional representative in on-campus and off-campus visit programs including territory travel, college fairs, visit days, small group visits, etc. Review and assess territory applicant files Articulate the scholarship and financial aid processes Creatively and collaboratively contribute to the overall student recruitment effort and goals Assist with special projects or teams as assigned/perform other duties as necessary Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Ability to communicate inclusively with diverse audiences and stakeholders including fellow admissions staff, prospective students and their families, counselors and other educators, alumni, and campus partners. Strong organizational and time management skills are key to success. Ability to work with time and volume pressures under deadlines and multiple priorities. Successful applicants will have the ability to represent the admissions profession and Hope College positively. Ability to use the latest technology in recruitment and enrollment planning, including experience with an admission CRM. Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the college Schedule will require evenings and weekends. Physical Demands This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves moving items over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities.
