Position Description Advertised Job Summary The Admissions Counselor is responsible for the daily processing of prospective student applications into the University's student information management system, evaluation of official secondary and post-secondary transcripts and applying University admission criteria in determining an admission decision for the applicant. The Admissions Counselor also creates, maintains and organizes student records using an imaging system and the University's student information management system. This Admissions Counselor also serves as the liaison between international students applying to USC Lancaster and the USC International Student and Scholar Support (ISSS). The Admissions Counselor processes all international student admissions applications, evaluates all international credentials and transcripts (in coordination with ISSS), and notifies applicants of admissions decisions. Under the direction of the Executive Director of Enrollment Management, the Admissions Counselor assists in developing office processes and procedures to ensure work is effectively and accurately completed. This position is a vital part of the work conducted to ensure the University's attainment of its student enrollment goals. Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a college setting and familiarity with undergraduate admissions processes. Experience working with international student admissions Familiarity with student services, student information systems, (Banner preferred), CRM software (Salesforce or Slate preferred). Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and execute clear objectives. Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team. Ability to analyze information and exercise sound judgment in making decisions. Computer skills Ability to attend training workshops, webinars, etc. Job Duties Job Duty Enters all new student applications into the University's student information management system. Determines residency status according to state regulations. Evaluate secondary and post-secondary academic transcripts based on University criteria. Create, maintain, and organize student records using an imaging system and the University's student information management system. Determine and communicate admissions decisions and "next steps" for prospective students. Provides excellent customer service through all phases of the admissions process. Accurately follows University application guidelines and state education regulations. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 40 Job Duty Primary application processor for international students. Attend training and professional development to stay current on international student admissions requirements. Evaluate international student admissions credentials. Work with USC International Student and scholar Support (ISSS), serving as a liaison between that department and the student, to assure international students meet all admissions standards and have appropriate documentation in place to enroll at USC Lancaster. Work closely with coaches and professors who may be advocating on behalf of an international student, while following all confidentiality and privacy policies. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty Counsel perspective students, families, school counselors, and the general public on the admissions process and provides general information regarding the institution. Generate correspondence to respond to or to facilitate student requests for assistance. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 35 Job Duty Participate in professional associations such as the Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers (CACRAO) and engages in regular professional development to identify best practices and pursue continuous improvement.
