Job Description

What You'll Be Doing Join Wake County Public Health as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP)! Looking for a role where no two days are the same and your work truly impacts the entire community? Wake County Public Health is seeking a Physician Extender (Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, or Physician Assistant) to serve as a floating provider in the Northern Regional Center Clinic. This unique role offers the opportunity to care for diverse populations, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and expand your clinical experience.
What You'll Do:
Provide comprehensive care to adults and children Deliver services including preventive care, family planning, prenatal care, STI/STD care, and acute illness management Screen, diagnose, and treat patients with a focus on accessible, high-quality public health care Perform clinical procedures (with appropriate training and support)
Beyond Patient Care:
Mentor and precept NPs, PAs, medical students, and residents Support onboarding and training of new clinical staff Collaborate on the development and improvement of clinical protocols and procedures
Additional Details:
Schedule may include occasional evenings or weekends Opportunity to support community response during emergency or inclement weather events

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) As required by license No specific experience required Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Certified Nurse Midwife license approved by the NC Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners. CPR, AED and DEA Registration. Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted Please include ALL prior work experience on your application and resume.
