Job Description

Overview Calspan's Transonic Wind Tunnel is the only independently owned and operated wind tunnel in the United States. Our staff is known for its flexibility and responsiveness to our customers' needs. Customers appreciate this approach, as it enables them in real time to refine test programs. We are looking for an experienced and versatile Aeronautical Engineer to join our team! Please note, this is a 3rd shift position. Responsibilities Execute aerospace testing operations in an accurate and efficient manner, including install, test execution, and post-test activities. Maintain test documentation. Monitor progress and provide feedback to test team members. Verify and validate aerodynamic test data to ensure data quality meets the Calspan and customer guidelines. Review and understand test objectives and requirements and communicate them to the test team members. Maintain close coordination with the customer. Execution of test preparation activities, including balance calibrations, model organization, model build up, wiring documentation, etc. Maintain open and professional communication with the customer. Update documentation. Communicate requirements and plan to the project team. Ensure tasks are completed in accordance with the project plan and in alignment with customer requirements. Manage and develop individual customer projects, including the detail development of test objectives and requirements, customer weekly meetings, and supporting model design. Prepare documentation of test objectives and data reduction requirements. Work with the Calspan team to ensure test needs are being met and ensuring data quality. Manage post-test activities, including customer meetings/communications and deliverables. Develop new or improve existing applications, test procedures, and processes; ensure that they conform to standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements; and that they are under configuration control. Create pertinent documentation. Qualifications Preferred Education /
Experience:
Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline; 5+ years in Engineering or related discipline or; A combination of education and experience equivalent to above; Due to the security requirements for this position, US Citizenship is required; Preferred Knowledge /
Ability:
Familarity with wind tunnel operational principles. Familiarity with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) methods. Understanding of project management concepts (budgets, scheduling, etc). Experience with data acquisition, signal conditioning and instrumentation. Ability to read, interpret, and manage engineering plans and specifications. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage abstract and concrete variables. Why join Calspan? Salary Range (max) USD $90,000.00/Yr.
