Afternoon Teacher

South County Montessori School is currently seeking a motivated and reliable afternoon preschool teacher to join our supportive school community. South County Montessori School (SCMS) founded in 1976, is an independent school located in North Kingstown, RI, and offers programs from Primary through Lower Elementary. We strive to create a warm and welcoming environment that fosters a love of learning and promotes a joyful community.

Position Details:

• Schedule:

  5 days a week, 12:00 PM
• 5:00 PM, with additional morning substitute hours available
• Position available starting August 2026 (academic year) with some summer hours available

• Salary
• $25/hour

Responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively to implement daily educational goals and carry out classroom directives.
• Assist children with organizing materials, completing tasks, and fostering independence.
• Maintain a neat classroom environment, including managing snacks and refilling supplies.
• Share observations and student progress with the teaching team.
• Maintain warm, professional communication with parents and colleagues.

Requirements:

• High level of reliability, conscientiousness, and a willingness to learn the Montessori philosophy.
• Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Must pass a background check as required by state regulations.
