AGGREGATE QUARRY SUPERINTENDENT

Full-Time, Non-Exempt Reports To Ownership Position Summary A confidential industrial mining and aggregate operations company is seeking an experienced Aggregate Quarry Superintendent to oversee daily quarry, crushing, screening, and heavy equipment operations at an active aggregate extraction facility. This leadership role is responsible for coordinating production activities, supervising field personnel, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining compliance with all applicable safety and environmental regulations. The Aggregate Quarry Superintendent will oversee workforce productivity, equipment utilization, material processing operations, and site logistics while supporting long-term operational goals and production targets. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, extensive aggregate or quarry operational experience, and the ability to manage multiple operational priorities within a demanding industrial environment. This position requires a hands-on operational leader capable of balancing production demands, workforce coordination, safety initiatives, equipment management, and field operations in a fast-paced quarry setting. Responsibilities- Oversee daily quarry extraction, crushing, screening, and aggregate processing operations
- Supervise heavy equipment operators, labor crews, plant personnel, mechanics, and support staff
- Coordinate production schedules and operational priorities to meet company output goals and customer demand
- Monitor quarry development activities, stockpile management, haul road conditions, and material flow operations
- Ensure compliance with all MSHA, OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards and procedures
- Conduct routine safety meetings, operational inspections, and field audits to maintain a safe work environment
- Coordinate equipment maintenance scheduling and operational downtime planning with maintenance personnel and vendors
- Monitor production metrics, equipment utilization, fuel consumption, and operational efficiencies
- Assist with workforce planning, employee scheduling, coaching, discipline, and performance management
- Collaborate with executive leadership regarding operational planning, equipment forecasting, and production strategy
- Oversee excavation sequencing, material extraction activities, and operational logistics as needed
- Maintain accurate operational reporting, inspection documentation, production records, and safety compliance logs
- Ensure effective communication between field operations, maintenance teams, dispatch personnel, vendors, and leadership
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement process improvements to maximize production efficiency and cost control
- Monitor operational supply levels, wear parts inventory, fuel usage, and consumable materials
- Respond to operational emergencies, equipment failures, and production-related issues as necessary
- Support long-term site development initiatives and operational scaling strategies Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in quarry operations, aggregate mining, heavy civil operations, or mineral processing environments
- Previous experience in a superintendent, operations leadership, or site management role preferred
- Strong knowledge of crushing plants, screening systems, conveyors, loaders, excavators, haul trucks, and heavy equipment operations
- Familiarity with MSHA regulations, mining safety standards, and environmental compliance requirements
- Ability to manage workforce productivity, field logistics, and operational coordination in a demanding industrial environment
- Experience coordinating preventative maintenance schedules and equipment repair operations
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills in high-pressure operational settings
- Ability to analyze production trends and implement operational improvements to increase efficiency and reliability
- Experience with production reporting systems, operational documentation, and field management software preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic operational reporting systems preferred
- MSHA certification or prior MSHA-regulated site experience strongly preferred
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
- Regular exposure to outdoor industrial quarry and aggregate processing environments including dust, noise, vibration, and changing weather conditions
- Frequent walking on uneven terrain and active operational areas
- Ability to climb equipment, stairs, and elevated work platforms as needed
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or flexible schedules when operational demands require
- Frequent interaction with heavy equipment, aggregate processing systems, and active production environments Work Environment / Position Structure
- This position is primarily field-based within an active quarry and aggregate production operation
- The Aggregate Quarry Superintendent will work closely with operators, maintenance personnel, plant staff, vendors, and executive leadership
- Daily responsibilities involve direct oversight of production activities, workforce coordination, and operational performance
- Operational schedules may fluctuate depending on production demand, weather conditions, and project timelines
- The role requires strong field visibility, leadership presence, and hands-on operational management Compensation The Aggregate Quarry Superintendent position offers competitive hourly compensation ranging from $40.
