Job Description

The S easonal Tree Inspector position supports the City Forester and Forestry Department. This seasonal position is available mid-August through early November. Major responsibilities include watering, weeding, mulching, staking, inventorying and maintaining new planting projects on city property. Additional duties include watering and maintaining seasonal planting boxes and pots along the downtown business corridor, assisting in planting program activities and other tasks as assigned. The work schedule will generally be Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Driving city watering vehicle to planting sites on public property. Watering, weeding, mulching, caging and staking trees and shrubs at planting sites as needed to aid in plant establishment. Fill out weekly water reports to track maintenance and health of trees and shrubs at planting sites. Communicate with forestry staff when there is a maintenance, safety or disease issue with trees on city property. Ensure equipment is cleaned, maintained and in working condition.
Other Job Functions:
Water and maintain trees, shrubs and seasonal planting boxes/pots along the downtown business corridor. Assist forestry staff with other planting program activities. Assist forestry staff with tree inventory and plant pest management programs. Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as apparent or assigned. Detail oriented and ability to work independently without direct supervision. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess valid driver's license and have a good driving record. Ability to operate or ability to be trained to operate various equipment in a safe manner. Ability to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships with other employees and the public. Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Desired Job Qualifications:
