Job Description

We do the right things, and we get things done. Irrigation system trouble-shooting and maintenance Playground installation and inspections. Tree pruning and storm clean-up. Sports field maintenance and irrigated turf maintenance. Planting native and ornamental species; invasive species removal. Work planning around facility reservations. Provides technical and functional direction to assigned utility staff Reviews and controls quality of work; assists in selection and in completing employee evaluations. Other duties, as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of principles, practices and methods of construction, repair and maintenance applicable to parks and grounds; knowledge of materials, tools and equipment needed for the work; knowledge of computer systems used in a public works environment; knowledge of worksite safety rules, regulations, procedures and practices. Skill in using tools and equipment applicable to the field; skill in utilizing a computer. Ability to plan, organize, delegate and monitor work; ability to read equipment manuals, maps and interpret construction drawings and specifications; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to lead the work of others; ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade AND Four (4) years of experience of parks maintenance or landscape maintenance and facilities maintenance.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Possess a valid class A driver's license with tanker endorsement within six months. Satisfactory driving record. Standard First Aid Certificate issued by the American Red Cross. CPR Certification. Oregon Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator License Possess a

Generally, working days are Monday-Friday 8 hour days, occasionally weekend work.
