Job Description

The City of La Crosse is seeking to hire a part-time Parks & Forestry Coordinator in the Parks & Recreation Department. Core hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Position is expected to work up to 30 hours per week with flexibility available within operating hours. Starting wage is between $15.00 to $20.00 per hour, depending on qualifications. Position is limited term and does not acquire benefits.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Follow departmental procedures regarding phone etiquette, record keeping, and paperwork filing procedures Communicate with residents about boulevard trees, park maintenance, memorial tree planting, ash tree removal and replacement, and general forestry concerns Input parks and forestry information into Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint programs Maintain healthy working relationships with office staff, Parks Maintenance crew, and supervisors Purchase supplies for department as needed Contact local contractors about projects in parks throughout the City of La Crosse Coordinate activities for individuals who need to complete community service hours Assist Deputy Director with daily operations Assist Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department in any capacity necessary Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed Ability to work with a computer, including but not limited to e-mail, GIS Mapping, Internet, Microsoft Office Attend meetings as needed, including Board of Park Commissioners, Neighborhood Associations, Board of Public Works, and City Council Applications accepted until position is filled.
