Qualifications Driver's License Full Job Description About Us:
The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and adults. Program participants protect and restore national parks, national forests, wildlife refuges, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, community green spaces, and much more across the country. Position Summary This position will assist the Fort Leavenworth Natural Resources Specialist in accomplishing goals set forth in the Fort's Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan. These goals will require work in most aspects of natural resources management on the 3,500 acres of unimproved lands on the Post. Over the course of the project the Individual Placement will conduct environmental education programs for K-6 graders and middle schoolers. There will also be opportunities to speak to adult audiences about the natural resources on the Post. UTV's and tractors with implements such as disks, seed drills, and mowers may also be operated. Invasive species control will be undertaken using hand tools, chainsaws, and herbicides. Prescribed fires may be conducted. Various surveys will be conducted using live traps, seining nets, visual encounters. Data compilation and analysis might also be done. Trail maintenance, mowing, low skill carpentry projects, and equipment maintenance may all be required. Schedule June 8, 2026-August 28, 2026 Key Duties and Responsibilities Environmental education programs for adults and children Trail maintenance Habitat manipulation - mowing, cutting brush and trees, assist with prescribed fire, invasive species control, and food plot establishment Monitoring plants and animals Writing articles to promote the natural resources of the Fort Ability to work independently Marginal Duties Some construction skills Data entry abilities Operate UTVs Required Qualifications Drivers License Hours 40 per week Living Accommodations No housing is provided for this position. Compensation $650 per week (combined allowance for living and housing) $1,100.00 one-time relocation travel allowance All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
