Job Description

This is an AmeriCorps/Washington Service Corps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. Pierce Conservation District is government that works. We conserve and restore the natural resources of Pierce County. Maintaining and improving water quality is critical to our efforts. The member will focus on water quality monitoring on lakes and streams to inform management decisions. They will also collaborate with community members and property owners to increase urban tree canopy through education and outreach events. Some evening and weekend hours will be required. We expect to begin rolling review of applications and interviews in early June.
Monthly stipend amount:
$2,438.
Member Duties :
The Water Quality Specialist supports Pierce Conservation District's work to bring nature-based processes into our urban areas to improve Puget Sound water quality. They will facilitate installation of trees on public and private property to improve urban forest canopy; deliver educational programming on urban tree canopy and measure impact; collect water samples for monitoring and compile lab results for reporting; assist with habitat stewardship projects; support special events such native plant sale and urban tree sale.
