Landscape Management's goal is to improve standards of grounds care on all public space within the City of Huntsville. Landscape Management maintains the grounds in city parks, sports facilities, and rights-of-way, while promoting the highest quality of trained technicians and professionals in the fields of Turf Management, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Irrigation, Litter Management and Herbicide Application. Irrigation Technician Position at aGlance:
Work involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of all irrigation systems for the City of Huntsville. Work involves inspecting parks, roadsides, and any other areas maintained by the City of Huntsville for irrigation problems and solving whatever problems are found. Work also involves planning, designing, and installing new irrigation. Coordinates with contractors on installations contracted out; ensures all work done to system is done properly and meets all standards; instructs employees on essential practices to complete work properly. Inspects parks, roadsides, and any other areas maintained by the City of Huntsville for irrigation problems. Landscape Management Department works (4)- 10-hour shifts: Monday
Thursday:
6am- 4pm or Tuesday
Friday:
6am- 4pm
Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:
High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid Alabama driver's license.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
