A Farm, Nursery, or Greenhouse Worker propagates, cultivates and harvests plants, primarily flowers, trees, shrubs and sod, and other crops such as mushrooms that are grown in greenhouses, or grows and harvests farm crops such as grain, fruit or vegetables. Operates and maintains equipment used to grow and harvest plants and crops. Cares for animals including dairy cows or chickens, pigs or other animals raised for meat.

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday Responsibilities:
Responsible for maintaining and preforming preventative maintenance on climate control systems, greenhouse structures and other greenhouse equipment Find technical solutions and improvements in the daily work throughout greenhouses and the facility Execute greenhouse tasks in cooperation with internal customers in order to provide support in the creation new varieties Use power tools and field equipment in a safe and proper way to take care of maintenance and repairs in the greenhouse Ability to obtain a pesticide private applicator license and spray pesticide with a respirator Assist with monitoring growing conditions such as fertigation, lighting, pests and other environmental factors for growing Vegetable crops Responsible for the operational work in the greenhouses and hardening houses in order to grow successful and healthy plants Use modern computer systems for irrigation, climate control and operational administration. Carry out basic steps of standard operating procedures independently Conduct troubleshooting, repairs, and installation of basic irrigation systems such as replacing PCV and metal pipes as well as fixing solenoids Farm Technicians have also to take care of certain tasks outside normal working hours, like irrigating crops, pest control, control of the growth of crops or watch and check premises and test security systems when needed. These tasks are compensated in a specific way and can be an essential responsibility of the job.
Qualifications:
At least 1 year maintaining a greenhouse preferred or at least 2 years working in agriculture maintenance/construction/troubleshooting equipment Good communications skills Greenhouse experience preferred Pesticide application experience preferred Ability to learn new greenhouse management systems Ability to come in on weekends and work after hours Drivers license
Special Instructions:
Pesticide experience in an agricultural setting very important Agriculture maintenance very important. Greenhouse maintenance better but harder to find. some people have greenhouse experience but it's just a crop technician pruning/harvesting plants etc. and not maintenance focused which we are looking for.
Pay:
$20.00•$23.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0•50.0 per week Application Question(s): Do you have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED? Do you have at least 1 year of experience maintaining a greenhouse, or at least 2 years of experience in agricultural maintenance, construction, or equipment troubleshooting?
