Job Summary:

The Agricultural Worker is a dual-role position essential to the daily health and productivity of the orchard. This role is responsible for the precise execution of irrigation schedules and the safe operation of tractors and other farm machinery for various orchard tasks. The ideal candidate is a reliable, detail-oriented individual capable of working independently in an outdoor environment while adhering to strict safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

Irrigation Management Operate and maintain orchard irrigation systems (drip, micro-sprinkler, or flood) to ensure optimal tree hydration. Monitor water flow and pressure; identify and repair leaks, clogged emitters, or broken lines promptly. Perform routine maintenance on filters, valves, and pumps. Clean and maintain water distribution areas to prevent debris buildup. Tractor & Equipment Operation Safely operate tractors equipped with various implements for mowing, spraying, or shredding within narrow orchard rows. Conduct pre-operation inspections of machinery, checking fuel, oil, and fluid levels. Assist in the basic repair and maintenance of farm equipment as directed by the foreman. Follow all equipment operator safety protocols, including Night Safety and Wildfire Safety measures when applicable. General Orchard Support Assist with hand-weeding, pruning, and debris removal to maintain a clean and safe work environment. Adhere to all pesticide safety protocols, including proper handling of containers and equipment before they are washed. Participate in required safety training sessions, such as Heat Illness Prevention and Sexual Harassment Prevention. Maintain accurate records of hours worked and tasks completed for weekly payroll submission.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Previous experience in orchard operations, specifically irrigation and tractor driving, is highly preferred. Must be willing to complete mandatory training in Heat Illness Prevention, Pesticide Safety, and Equipment Operator Safety. Physical Ability Ability to perform strenuous physical labor in various weather conditions (extreme heat or cold) and lift up to 50 lbs. Flexible schedule, including early mornings, late evenings, or weekends during peak irrigation or harvest seasons. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are encouraged but not required.

Work Environment & Safety Work Environment:

Work requires being in an outside environment, exposed to the elements; temperatures may reach above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Work exposes workers to subject hazards; including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts and moving farm equipment. While performing duties of this job workers may be exposed to significant noise and vibration associated with the use of farm equipment.
