Job Description

Irrigation Assistant Manager / Irrigation Technician III Good Earth Landscaping & Maintenance is seeking two experienced Irrigation Assistant Managers / Irrigation Technician III professionals to join our growing team. This leadership-oriented position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of commercial and residential irrigation systems throughout our portfolio. Working closely with the Director of Irrigation, Director of Construction, Director of Maintenance, and Account Managers, this position ensures irrigation systems operate efficiently while supporting installation projects, preventative maintenance, inventory management, and team supervision. Qualified candidates will possess strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service. Essential Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional irrigation technician experience
  • Working knowledge of irrigation system hydraulics and basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Understanding of irrigation controllers, valves, pump stations, and water management systems
  • Basic knowledge of agronomy and horticulture principles
  • Experience operating light and medium-duty equipment
  • Strong organizational, record-keeping, and computer skills
  • Leadership and supervisory experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist the Irrigation Division Manager with daily scheduling, project coordination, inventory, and documentation.
  • Perform irrigation system audits, evaluations, and water management assessments.
  • Maintain detailed records for all pump stations, drives, and irrigation systems within the company portfolio.
  • Evaluate the performance of pump stations and recommend preventative maintenance or repairs.
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair irrigation systems, including controllers, valves, wiring, piping, sprinkler heads, and related components.
  • Supervise and participate in irrigation installations, drainage projects, and water feature construction.
  • Perform seasonal irrigation startup, winterization, and system testing.
  • Lead and direct crews during irrigation installations, repairs, and hand-watering operations when required.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels of irrigation parts, fittings, and accessories.
  • Safely operate specialized equipment, including trenchers, skid steers, loaders, trailers, and other landscape equipment.
  • Identify and report landscape conditions requiring attention, including turf, trees, shrubs, and planting beds.
  • Participate in snow removal operations, including scheduling, equipment preparation, implementation, and cleanup.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support company operations.
Physical Requirements This position requires frequent physical activity in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
Candidates must be able to:
  • Lift and carry up to 70 pounds
  • Frequently bend, kneel, squat, climb, and walk across uneven terrain
  • Dig trenches by hand or with equipment
  • Operate hand tools and power equipment safely
  • Drive company vehicles and tow trailers as needed
  • Operate landscaping equipment including mowers, blowers, trenchers, skid steers, and loaders Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Intermediate math skills for irrigation calculations and water management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accurate record keeping
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects
  • Safe work practices around electricity, pressurized irrigation systems, and heavy equipment Schedule

  • Typical work week: 40-60 hours depending on season and workload
