Assistant Irrigation Technician

Job Tasks (Duties) Inspects the golf course and common ground areas and reports any problems in a timely manner Waters all turf and plant areas. Operates irrigation heads in dry areas needing additional water. Repairs the irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as needed. Completes requests for irrigation parts and supplies. Adjusts water times in order to apply the proper amount of water on turf and plant areas. Assists in the designs and installs for drainage in areas of poor drainage. Implements safety practices and standards. Performs other duties as directed by the Golf Course & Common Grounds Superintendent and Irrigation Technician. Adheres to all policies and procedures, memos and oral instructions. Responsible for keeping rainfall and pump station records. Works with contracted companies to maintain fountains and aeration systems. Record daily usage of water. Maintain all drainage pumps. Skills/ Education Requires working knowledge of basic electricity related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers, and working knowledge of various types of pumps and pumping systems. Requires understanding of agronomy, turf grass science and the rules of golf; knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in grounds and golf area maintenance work; ability to operate light motorized equipment; and ability to follow oral and written directions.
