Job Description

Overview Hui Ku Maoli Ola is an ever growing and evolving nursery and lanscape business with the purpose of elevating awareness, accessability and use of native plants in all landscapes. We are looking for reliable and energetic team members who approach tasks with purpose , enthusiasm and a positive attitude . We are currently seeking full-time plant nursery workers to join our crew at our main retail nursery in Kaneohe. The position is 40 hrs per week, 7:30am - 4pm, M-F (possible occasional Sat.). No experience starting pay is $16/hour. Main duties include (but are not limited to) propagation, growing and care of native plants, assisting walk-in customers, preparing wholesale and garden center orders, and general nursery maintenance. General Duties Propogation, growing and care of native plants Seed preparation, planting, transplanting, and pruning/trimming a variety of native species Monitor plant health regularly, helping to identify pests, diseases, and deficiencies Maintain clean and safe nursery conditions Perform weeding and other maintenance tasks Use hand tools and mechanical equipment safely for planting, soil preparation, and maintenance tasks Assist walk-in customers with plant selections and purchases Prepare plants for wholesale and garden center orders General Requirements Must be able to work in outdoor environments in varying weather conditions Must have physical ability to perform lifting/carrying, stand for extended periods, and carry out various manual tasks safely Must be punctual and reliable. Must arrive prepared to start work day at designated/scheduled time, and reliably maintain agreed upon daily/weekly schedule Must be able to work productively and efficiently on independent tasks, as well as cooperatively and respectfully as part of a diverse team Must be able to follow detailed instructions and directions Must be open and willing to learn, graciously receiving direction, constructive feedback and corrections Must have a flexible and positive mindset in approaching dynamic and shifting priorities in a fast-paced retail nursery environment Must be able to deliver excellent customer service, assisting customers with courtesy and efficiency This role is ideal for motivated individuals who are passionate about native plants and thrive working outdoors in diverse conditions.
