Job Description The Assistant Barn Manager is an important member of the team to support our mission. This part-time position reports to the Equine Operations Manager and all hours worked are to be performed on site. This role is an important part of supporting our mission by maintaining a high standard of care for our horses, ensuring their comfort and safety remain paramount. Strongwater maintains a herd of 15 horses ranging from miniatures to large drafts so someone who is comfortable handling and caring for all types of horses is key. Strongwater Farm is hiring a part time position at 10 hours per week for an all day shift on Sundays 7:30am-5:00pm Essential duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to: Feeding horses Turn in/out Muck stalls/paddocks, resetting bedding, salt, etc as needed Set up AM/PM grain handling medications, supplements, etc. Blanketing, fly gear such as boots, masks, fly sheets, etc. Assist in administering medications, mouthwash, etc. via syringe as directed Apply basic first aid such as topicals on small wounds, taking vitals, cold water therapy as directed Manage and oversee volunteers, assigning tasks, training new volunteers, etc. Qualifications Minimum one year of hands on equine care experience Strong working knowledge of equine handling, care, barn management, and safety practices Strong knowledge of basic equine health and behavior Ability to lift 50lbs Reliable transportation Strong communication skills, organized, and positive attitude Strongwater Farm is an equal opportunity employer.
