As a key contributor, you'll help create lush, thriving gardens that inspire and delight visitors, all while developing your skills in plant care, groundskeeping, and environmental stewardship. Whether you're passionate about native plants, irrigation systems, or lawn care, this position provides a dynamic environment to grow your expertise and make a positive impact on our community's green spaces. Duties Assist with planting, pruning, watering, mulching, and fertilizing to promote healthy plant growth. Operate hand tools and power tools safely for landscape maintenance tasks such as edging, trimming, and soil preparation. Identify various plant species, including native plants, and monitor their health to detect pests or diseases early. Support irrigation system installation, adjustment, and troubleshooting to ensure efficient water use. Maintain grounds by mowing lawns, aerating soil, removing weeds, and managing landscape features. Use pesticide management techniques responsibly to control pests while protecting beneficial insects and the environment. Collaborate with team members on landscaping projects and grounds maintenance activities to enhance outdoor aesthetics. Skills Experience working with greenhouses or in horticulture environments is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of landscape maintenance practices and gardening techniques. Proficiency with hand tools such as pruners, shovels, rakes, and spades; familiarity with power tools like trimmers and blowers. Ability to identify plants accurately and understand their growing requirements. Practical experience with irrigation systems and native plant care. Knowledge of pesticide application protocols and pest control methods aligned with safety standards. Climbing skills for tree trimming or elevated landscape work; comfort operating grounds maintenance equipment including mowers and tractors. Effective communication skills for interacting with clients or visitors regarding garden features or maintenance schedules. Background in farming or agriculture is a plus for understanding crop cycles and soil health management.
