Farm to School Student Assistant (Seasonal Contractor) •Current DPSCD Students Only•
Location:
Drew Transition Center Reports to: Farm to School Supervisor or designee Work schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00AM-12:00
PM Contract Hours:
5 weeks/ 20 hours per week.
Salary:
$15.00/hr. ($1,500.00 paid for the duration as a stipend upon completion of the 5 week program)

End Date:
August 14, 2026
Position Summary :
The Office of School Nutrition's Farm to School Program is committed to providing professional, work-based training opportunities for DPSCD high school students that builds skills in nutrition, gardening/ agriculture, and entrepreneurship that connects to higher education opportunities and career pathways.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum education: Current DPSCD Student/recent graduate 14-17 years of age (at time of hire) Clean criminal history Ability to work well individually and as part of a team. Ability to work with a range of age groups.
Essential Functions :
Provide on-site planting, harvesting, processing, and packaging assistance to Drew Farm staff. Maintain other larger DPSCD farm sites. Learn about foodservice operations/safe food handling. Keep records and data on harvested goods and processing. Must be able to physically perform the duties outlined with or without accommodations
Security Clearance:
In alignment with Michigan law, if you are hired to fill a position, you will be required to submit to a Detroit Public Schools Community District criminal background check. Information regarding required background checks will be shared at point of hire.
