Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Shepherd / Sheep Flock Manager to oversee the health, safety, and management of a vibrant sheep flock. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors in a dynamic agricultural environment, ensuring the well-being of the animals while maintaining efficient farm operations. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for animal husbandry, hands-on mechanical skills, and leadership experience to support a thriving flock and contribute to sustainable farming practices. Responsibilities Supervise daily flock activities, including feeding, watering, and health monitoring of sheep and lambs Manage pasture rotation, grazing schedules, and fencing maintenance to optimize grazing efficiency Operate and maintain farm machinery such as tractors, irrigation systems, and other equipment necessary for flock care Perform animal husbandry duties including health checks, vaccinations, shearing, and assisting with birthing processes Conduct equipment repairs using hand tools, welding techniques, and basic maintenance skills to ensure operational readiness Oversee the safe handling of animals during transport or veterinary visits using animal handling expertise Maintain detailed records of flock health, breeding cycles, feed inventories, and equipment maintenance Requirements Proven supervising experience in livestock or farm management roles with leadership capabilities Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery, equipment repair, welding, and power tools operation Strong animal husbandry skills with a focus on sheep care and general livestock management Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts and other farm machinery safely and efficiently Knowledge of irrigation systems, greenhouse or horticultural practices is a plus Ability to perform heavy lifting regularly and work outdoors in varying weather conditions Basic math skills for record-keeping, feed calculations, and inventory management Familiarity with farming or agricultural practices including growing experience or greenhouse operations is advantageous Join us in this rewarding role where your hands-on skills and leadership will directly impact the health of our flock and the success of our farm.
