Baisch & Skinner is a wholesale floral distributor based in St. Louis, MO with six branch store locations throughout the Midwest. Importers of fresh cut flowers, permanent botanicals, decoratives, glassware, plants and floral supplies, Baisch & Skinner is a business-to-business distributor that serves the floral, design, and hospitality industries.Job Summary:
The Distribution Greenhouse Worker plays a vital role in maintaining the health and quality of plant inventory before it is shipped to branch stores or retailers. The role is physically demanding, fast-paced, and often seasonal.Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily plant care such as watering, spacing, and general upkeep.
- Unload, unpack, and help organize incoming plant shipments.
- Assist with preparing plants for store transfers and customer orders.
- Pull, pack, label, and prepare plants for shipment.
- Assist walk in customers as needed.
- Keep greenhouse work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Support the team with general greenhouse tasks assigned.
- Perform light maintenance of the greenhouse and its grounds.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a nursery, greenhouse, or landscaping setting preferred but not required.
- Interest in plants, gardening, or hands-on work.
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
- Attention to detail for quality checks and inventory.
- Strong work ethic with a demonstrated customer service focus and a professional demeanor and appearance.
- Ability to multi-task and work as part of a team
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate seasonal heavy work volume.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Ability to frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Capacity to stand and walk on concrete or uneven surfaces for an entire shift.
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching overhead to maintain plants and organize inventory.
- Comfortable working in high heat and humidity within the greenhouse
- Ability to safely operate ladders, hand trucks, and cars to move inventory.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where order accuracy and speed are critical.
