Job Summary This is a part time job for only
SATURDAYS
Join our dynamic team as a Groom in the horse barn, where your passion for animal care and hands-on skills will help maintain a healthy, safe, and well-organized environment for our horses. This role is vital in ensuring the animals receive top-quality grooming, daily care, and proper handling. You will work closely with experienced staff to support the overall health and well-being of our equine residents while maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the barn facilities. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will contribute to a thriving farm environment. Responsibilities Provide daily grooming, including brushing, hoof cleaning, mane and tail care to promote healthy coats and hooves. Assist with feeding routines, ensuring horses receive proper nutrition according to their individual needs. Handle horses safely during grooming, tacking, and other activities, demonstrating excellent animal handling skills. Maintain cleanliness of stalls, aisles, and equipment to uphold hygiene standards and prevent disease. Operate farm machinery and equipment such as wheelbarrows, power tools, and basic maintenance tools for repairs or facility upkeep. Support with minor equipment repairs or welding tasks as needed to keep barn operations running smoothly. Assist with general farm chores including irrigation setup, heavy lifting of feed or bedding materials, and managing greenhouses or horticultural areas if applicable. Follow safety protocols when operating heavy machinery or power tools, ensuring a secure environment for all staff and animals. Experience Prior experience working with horses or in an animal husbandry setting is highly preferred. Supervising experience in farm or stable environments is advantageous for leadership opportunities. Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery, equipment repair, welding, or maintenance enhances your ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently. Familiarity with farming practices such as irrigation systems, greenhouse management, or horticulture is beneficial. Hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation like forklifts or other large machinery is a plus. Basic math skills are useful for measuring feed quantities or managing inventory accurately. Demonstrated ability to lift heavy loads safely and operate hand tools or power tools confidently supports daily tasks on the farm.
