Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team as a Farmhand specializing in horse care! This energetic role offers the opportunity to work closely with horses and contribute to the daily operations of a thriving farm. You'll be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organized environment, ensuring the health and well-being of our equine residents. Responsibilities Provide daily care for horses, including feeding, watering, grooming, and exercising to promote their health and happiness Assist with stable cleaning, bedding management, and overall barn upkeep to maintain a safe and sanitary environment Operate farm machinery such as tractors, loaders, and irrigation systems to support daily farm operations Perform minor equipment repairs and maintenance tasks using hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, and basic mechanical knowledge Monitor animal health closely; recognize signs of illness or distress and communicate with veterinarians or supervisors as needed Supervise other farm staff or volunteers when necessary, ensuring safety protocols are followed during all activities Support farming activities including planting, growing crops in greenhouses or outdoor fields, and managing irrigation systems for optimal growth conditions Skills Proven experience in animal husbandry with a focus on equine care and handling techniques Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery repair and maintenance; familiar with welding and equipment troubleshooting Supervising experience preferred; capable of guiding team members in safe work practices Strong understanding of farming practices, agriculture principles, horticulture, greenhouse management, and irrigation systems Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and heavy machinery safely and efficiently Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and performing basic repairs or maintenance tasks around the farm Excellent animal handling skills with an understanding of animal behavior and needs Basic math skills for measurements, feed calculations, or inventory management; capable of following safety procedures during heavy lifting or equipment operation Knowledge of horticulture practices for growing plants or managing greenhouse environments is a plus Join us in creating a vibrant farm environment where your skills contribute directly to the care of our horses and the success of our agricultural operations.
