The Fertigation Technician reports to the Cultivation Manager and is responsible for overseeing all irrigation and fertigation activities across the grow facility Tuesday through Saturday from 7:30am -4:00pm. This includes close collaboration with leadership to plan, execute, optimize, and supervise fertigation operations that are compliant with Department of Health standards and best practices. This position is essential to ensuring overall plant crop health. This position requires a flexible schedule to accommodate business needs related to changes in crop health. This position works with cannabis in all phases of its lifecycle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, implement, and adjust irrigation and fertigation plans in coordination with Cultivation leadership Oversee the checking and balancing of EC and pH levels of stock tanks according to SOPs Ensure fertilizer concentration tanks are properly filled and maintained Monitor crop moisture levels and evaluate nutrient and water sample data to inform decision-making with Cultivation leadership Respond to system alarms and lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve issues quickly and effectively Understand the process of nutrient delivery within our systems Ensure irrigation systems, fertigation systems, and equipment are maintained in optimal working condition. Oversee cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance of nutrient tanks, pumps, filters, and tools Coordinate installation and maintenance of irrigation components, including valves, emitters, drip tubing, drip stakes, and bench lines with the Facilities Department Maintain accurate records of nutrient usage and fertigation activities as well as all stock tank data Oversee inventory management of fertilizers and related supplies; communicate needs and shortages proactively Ensure proper storage, sanitation, and organization of all fertigation tools and equipment Enforce compliance with safety standards, PPE usage, company SOPs, and product label requirements Train new and existing team members on fertigation SOPs, safety protocols, equipment use, and best practices Demonstrate regular and on-time attendance to all scheduled shifts Other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
1+ year of experience in irrigation, fertigation, or related field, preferably in a greenhouse setting High school diploma or GED required; Additional relevant education preferred Possess a Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator's License or be willing to obtain one within 90 days of employment Demonstrated ability to interpret and adjust numeric readings Ability to exercise sound judgment and problem solving Ability to organize and prioritize work in a timely fashion Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Strong interpersonal skills including listening, negotiation, and conflict management Strong written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills
WORK CONDITIONS
This is a labor-intensive position, working in a greenhouse and manufacturing environment. This position is in an environment that frequently has a strong cannabis odor. This position will frequently be in-contact with cannabis in its vegetative, flowering, harvested, and cured phases. This position requires frequent direct contact with the cannabis plant before it is cured and contact post-cure. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to: Sit, Walk, Stand, Crouch, Stoop, Bend, Reach, and Lift for extended periods of time Hold arms above head for extended periods of time to trim plants, hang trellis, and remove leaves Use hands and fingers to operate, handle, and/or feel objects, tools, and/or controls; and reach with hands and arms Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds Scrub tables, floors, and other surfaces with brushes during remediation Operate light machinery including power washers, foam sprayers, and other remediation tools Occasionally operate a forklift per standard operating procedure and supervisor direction Will be required to wear varying degrees of personal protective equipment for specific tasks (some tasks require partial PPE; some will require full PPE) Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus Must be able to work in rooms with temperatures averaging 60 - 82 degrees with elevated humidity levels (45%-70%) and intense bright lights as well as areas with higher-than-average CO2 levels. Must be able to work in the dark or altered colored lighting utilizing green UV headlamps.
