Be sure to reference the job posting number on your resume/application. We need seasonal employees to assist with our corn, wheat, and green bean crop production. Employees will be required to perform all assigned duties related to raising these crops, including preparing fields for planting; attaching farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors using bolts and hand tools; and operating tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, manure spreaders, combines, irrigation equipment, and other farm machinery. Responsibilities include planting, weeding, spraying, cultivating, fertilizing, and harvesting crops; applying fertilizer and pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus, weeds, and diseases; and loading and unloading crops or materials manually or with conveyors, forklifts, transfer augers, or hand trucks. Workers will load hoppers and containers to feed machines, manipulate equipment controls, observe machinery to detect malfunctions, drive farm semi-trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools, and inspect, adjust, and complete routine maintenance and repairs. Additional duties include recording agricultural data, operating GPS-equipped machinery such as auto-steer and harvest monitors, and safely moving large articulated tractors and over-width farm equipment on narrow state highways and secondary roads while traveling across multiple counties between farms and fields. Applicants must have experience with chisel plowing and operating 36- to 45-foot-wide tillage equipment, as well as operating large self-propelled lime and fertilizer application equipment, payloaders, telehandlers, and skid steers to load lime and manure for application. Strong communication skills are required, particularly when equipment breakdowns occur. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience.
